Product description:
Organic Black Lentils are the most exotic type of lentils. They are also the most nutritious of their kind. They are rich in fiber and protein, as well as calcium and iron.
They can substitute any other type of lentils in the majority of recipes.
Organic Black Lentils are rich in flavor and taste somewhat earthy. Therefore, they are the best kind to use in recipes where spices won’t overpower the natural taste of ingredients.
Organic Black Lentils: How to Cook and Store
The best thing about organic black lentils is that you don’t have to pre-soak them. Its texture is very similar to French lentils. It means that they can remain firm if you don’t overcook them.
To cook, sort organic lentils to remove any debris or broken pieces. Then, rinse them in running water and put to boil in a pot. Use at least 2-3 cups of water per cup of lentils.
Cook for about 30 minutes if you want them firm and 40 minutes if you want them mushy. Cooked lentils can be stored in the fridge for up to five days. You can use them in stews, salads, and soups.
Organic black lentils keep rather well as long as you ensure they stay dry. Keep the product in an airtight container and away from heat and direct sunlight. Lentils contain very little fat, so rancidity shouldn’t become an issue. There is no particular need to store this product in the fridge or freezer. But you can do this to extend shelf-life further.
