Question: Can the door be closed so a dog cannot go through? I want the gate to keep my puupy in the kitchen so I can see her.

There is a small door for the dog, but it can be shut securely, has a pin and lock system that pulls out.
I have 3 of them and would highly recommend to anyone. They are also very sturdy.

The dimensions of the door are 9 X 9", our 23 lb Corgi can fit through alright, even though it's meant to keep him out of the cat's food. :D
Question: Do you have to screw into your walls to secure the gate?
Answer: No it has rubber bumpers on the sides. The 'screw' is built into the central bar of the gate.
As you lift a pin, a screwing mechanism on the gate itself allows you to customize the pressure to hold it firmly into the door frame without any need to damage the door frame.
